Recreation Therapist
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Look at patients medical records
- Create a therapy program that best fits his/her patients needs
- Analyze the progress of patients
- Help patient learn skills in order to become independent
- Teach patients a few ways to learn to cope with their emotions
- Observe patients to figure out the patient's needs
- Engage patients in therapy activities such as games or field trips
- Help reduce stress, anxiety, and depression
- Coordinate therapy programs
- Help people with disabilities by teaching them how to use community resources
- Work with other professionals
- Help patients socialize more effectively
- Observe and document patient's reactions and participation in therapy
Salary: $45,890
Educational Requirements: Requires a bachelor’s degree and certification
Demand for this profession: The job outlook for this job is 12% from 2014-2024 which is faster than average
Reflection: I would not like to become a recreational therapist because it is something that does not interest me and also because recreational therapists don’t make much money.
