Blood Bank Technologist
Duties and Responsibilities: Blood bank technologists work in a labratory and perform tests on blood samples. They analize bodily fluids such as blood, etc. Blood Bank technologists work at community blood banks, hospitals, reasearch facilities, etc. Blood bank technologists test blood and look for any abnormalities. They figure out what the body's harmful responses are to blood transfusions. They also test the blood for anything that may have been transmitted due to blood transfusion. Blood bank technologists work with other professionals. Blood bank technologists prepare blood for transfusion. They also classify blood by type. Another thing that they do is they record their findings. Blood bank technologists operate equipment which helps them observe blood. They also support nurses and physicians in blood transfusion therapy. 
Educational Requirements: In order to become a blood bank technologist you will need a bachelor's degree. It is also ideal if you get a degree in any of the following topics; biological science, physical science, chemistry, or math. After you have obtained your bachelor's degree you will need to complete SSB training. SSB training typically lasts for a year. After you have completed these things you will need to be certified. You must pass an exam in order to become certified. 
Salary: The average salary for a blood bank technologist is between $50,000 and $60,000. The salary for the job increases as you get better at your job.
