Mental Health Counselor
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Work with patients to improve their overall mental health
  • Encourage their clients to discuss about the emotions they are feeling and discuss about events that are occurring in their lives
  • Help their patients develop goals
  • Refer patients to other specialists such as a psychologist
  • Help prepare and maintain treatment records
  • Collect information about their clients through things such as interviews and tests
  • Based on their experience they will develop treatment plans
  • Give counseling to family members to help them understand what their family member is going through
  • Evaluate how effective treatment will be
  • Create programs for patients
  • Meet with family members members or other people in order to exchange information about patients
  • Discuss with their patients about their future
  • Plan programs that are related to substance abuse
Salary:  $41,500
Education: Master’s degree in psychology, clinical mental health counseling, marriage and family therapy. A bachelor’s degree can also be acceptable
Demand for this profession: The demand for this profession is 19% which is much faster than average.

Reflection: I would not like to become a Mental Health Counselor because this job doesn’t interest me and because you don’t make much money
