"I hated poverty. Poverty is more of a choice than anything else, and I can change that (poverty). It depends upon how hard I want to work and I decided that I would change it."
-Dr. Ben Carson
This is both a long quote and a quote with a big meaning. It means that poverty is a choice. You can choose to be lazy and not do anything to get out of it. You can also change poverty, you can get an education and do more other than being lazy and at home. Poverty is a choice. It all depends on how hard you want to work and if you are willing to dedicate time into changing it. One example of this quote is Ben Carson. Ben Carson was born in Detroit and was very very poor. His mother did not depend on welfare and instead took more jobs in order to make money to feed her family. Ben Carson was the worst student is his grade level. He changed that, he became a top student and he stopped being lazy. Instead he began to read books and focus on his education, this was a choice. He didn't have to get an education. He dedicated his time to work harder to get out of poverty. Ben Carson's story shows that it doesn't matter who you are. Anyone can get rid of poverty, you just have to be willing to dedicate hard work and focus, instead of being lazy and doing nothing at home.
