9/11 Terrorist Attacks
On September 11, 2001, 4 airliners were hijacked, 2 were headed for the world trade center, 1 for the pentagon, and the last plane crashed in a field in Pennsylvania. On Tuesday morning at 8:45a.m a Boeing 767 was hijacked and crashed into the north tower of the World Trade Center in New York. It instantly killed hundreds and trapped hundreds more in higher floors. 18 minutes later a second Boeing 767 was hijacked and crashed into the south tower near the 60th floor. It caused a massive explosion that showered burning debris over surrounding buildings and the streets below. Then at 9:45a.m was hijacked and crashed into the Pentagon. 15 minutes later the World Trade Center collapsed and 10:30a.m the other World Trade Center collapsed. Six people in the World Trade Center at the time of collapse survived. 10,000 others were treated for injuries. The last plane was hijacked but the passengers fought the four hijackers. The plane then flipped over and crashed in a rural field in Pennsylvania. Over 3,000 people were killed during the attacks in New York City and Washington D.C.“Terrorist attacks can shake the foundations of our biggest buildings, but they cannot touch the foundation of America. These acts shatter steel, but they cannot dent the steel of American resolve." The terrorists responsible for 9/11 were Islamic terrorists known as Osama Bin Laden's Al-Queda.
                                                     Reflection:
9/11 was a horrible day for America. I think it’s really sad that someone would hijack a plane to crash it into the World Trade Center and suicide. I also think that the passengers who fought the hijackers are really brave.
