Optician
Duties and Responsibilities:
Opticians work with people who need eye glasses or contact
lenses. They also help customers with their medical and style needs. They also adjust
eyeglasses once they have been made to perfect the fit. Another thing that
opticians do is tracking and arranging inventory and completing customer
purchases. Also they repair glasses when they are broken. They also teach
customers how to take care of their glasses. Measure corneal thickness and
pupil distance Make suggestions about frame shapes, styles and colors, lenses
and special lens coating. Responsible for grinding and tinting lenses. Some offices may require opticians to perform
front desk duties and fill out insurance claims. Two things that are mandatory
are a professional appearance and strong customer services.

Approximately $33,770
Education: High school diploma with on the job
training or associate’s or bachelor’s degree for career advancement
Reflection: I would not become an optician
because the job doesn’t sound very exciting. Another reason why I would not
become an optician is that they don’t get paid a lot.
